Hierve el Agua, our first stop, is a hidden jewel located in the foothills about 40 miles east of Oaxaca City.

There you can dip your toes or swim in the mineral-rich water while enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. The water appears to cascade down the side of the canyon, creating the illusion of a shimmering waterfall. What looks like flowing water is actually a series of calcium deposits formed over thousands of years, creating one of the most extraordinary natural formations in Mexico. If this alone does not impress, the panoramic views of the valley and surrounding mountains certainly will. At the end of our hike, you will have time to relax and enjoy the mineral-rich pools. Those who wish to swim will have ample time to do so while taking in the spectacular surroundings. Once our visit to Hierve el Agua has concluded, we will continue to the archeological site of Mitla. Mitla is the second most important archeological site in Oaxaca after Monte Albán. The architecture and facades display designs that are unique in all of Mesoamerica. The site played a central role in the Zapotec cosmovision of life and death. This ancient city's impressive mosaics and murals, more than a thousand years old, are still visible today. The geometric designs, reminiscent of those found in ancient Greece, continue to

intrigue and inspire experts and visitors from around the world.

Next, we visit Teotitlán del Valle, a beautiful town founded by the Zapotec people. Archeological evidence suggests that human beings have lived in this area for more than 8,000 years. Here, you will be welcomed into the home of a Zapotec family who will share their passion and expertise in traditional weaving on a pedal loom.

The family will explain how their art has evolved over generations and share stories about their lives and community. You will enjoy a weaving demonstration and gain insight into the techniques that have made Teotitlán famous throughout Oaxaca and beyond. The family will also reveal the secrets of their natural dyes, explaining how insects, stones, plants, and other natural materials are used to create the vibrant colors found in their textiles.

Last but certainly not least, we will visit the famous Tule Tree, regarded as the widest tree in the world. Located in the central square of Santa María del Tule, this world-renowned ahuehuete tree is more than

2,000 years old. Its enormous trunk measures more than 120 feet in circumference. It would take more than 30 people to encircle it, and its shade can shelter up to 500 people. It is a remarkable natural wonder and one of Oaxaca's most beloved landmarks.
