We are a locally owned business specializing in tourism and transportation operations. Our main goal is to ensure that our customers “experience” Oaxaca, and not simply “visit” it.

Because of health issues that necessitated several stops en route , we decided to hire a private car and driver. It was only a bit more than renting a car for the 6 day trip. Oaxaca Experience Tours provided a new SUV sized vehicle and a driver. He dropped us off in del Pacifico and picked us up 6 days later. The driver was polite, an excellent driver, and on time. A very positive experience. Fast responses via whatsapp. Highly recommend.

Our group of five senior citizens spent an amazing week traveling around Oaxaca and our favorite day, hands down, was spent with Omar Rito. From the minute he picked us up in the morning until he dropped us off twelve hours later, we enjoyed every aspect of our private tour. Omar has a great personality, warm and calm with a wonderful smile, and we all felt very comfortable with him. He is organized, professional, attentive and flexible. His van is new, comfortable, and he drives very well (which I appreciated). His spoken English is fantastic and he was able to converse on any topic we chose - personal, politics, arts, science, environment, economy, you name it. He drove us first to Hierve el Agua, stopping for an authentic (and tasty) breakfast at a small family-owned roadside restaurant (Comedor Citlali). The hike and mineral pools at Hierve el Agua are beautiful - Omar kept a good pace for us and allowed us time to rest when we needed it. From there we visited the archeological site of Mitla where Omar shared his extensive knowledge about the history and construction of this national treasure. After a delicious lunch at Rancho Zapata, we visited the lovely family of artisans at Huella Carmin (shout out to Ray David and Julisa) where we had fantastic workshops in natural wool spinning and dying, rug and textile weaving, and Oaxacan chocolate making. We spent many pesos buying their high quality goods, all at great prices. As I said to Omar at the end of the day, he really hit it out of the ballpark with our tour. The husbands, the wives, the friends, we all loved it. Thank you, Omar!

This was a custom outing, an overnight to the Sierra Norte. We did a day hike between Latuvi and Lachatao with two local guides, spent a night in cabanas in Latuvi, and then did a more local hike the following day---again with a local guide and Angel from OET, to a waterfall. The first day featured a dinner from a local cook, breakfast the following morning, and box lunches for both hikes. Ours was a small group of three friends, plus our guides.. The entire outing was well curated, with knowledgeable local guides who often supplied botanical knowledge about the substantial plant life enroute. The food was superb. That was the plan, nearly executed to conclusion. On the second day's hike, my wife suffered a fall during the descent to the waterfall, requiring medical attention.. Thanks to the calmness and assistance of Alvino, the local guide, and Angel, our OET companion, all ended well. We administered first aid to my wife, who was then able to walk with assistance to the road, where Angel drove us back to the clinic in Latuvi. She suffered a head wound requiring stitches, and twisted her ankle. The doctor in the clinic at Latuvi took her in immediately, cleaned and stitched the wound, and gave her antibiotics and pain medication. Her expert care required no further treatmen in town, and no follow-up appointment, until the stitches were removed when we returned home to the U.S., six days later. I've been doing these curated tours with Oaxaca Experience Tours for five years, annually upon my visits to Oaxaca. They are tailor made to our interests, our (intermediate) hiking experience/capabilities, and the variety of experiences we seek: outdoors, educational, endlessly fascinating, heavy on the cultural experiences offered in the indigenous communities in Oaxaca, and well-hosted by the OET staff, across the board. We wish to commend, especially, Angel this year for his heady guidance, but annually enjoy his tours, which is not to leave out any of our other guides over the four previous years and multiple outings. They're pros. These are great experiences.

My solo trip on a Sunday was more than I had ever dreamed of. Transportation was very comfortable and spacious. Angel, the guide, and I had a good laugh about it. First stop was at Tule Tree. Angel knew a lot about the history and present day info of the area and tree itself. It was impressive to say the least. Next, he took me to Tlacolula Market where another guide from another day told me to save my souvenir money for this Sunday only market. Actual artists and talented locals from the surrounding indigenous communities make real clothes, ceramics or farm/harvest their produce to sell. Yes, there will be some home goods stalls but please remember this market is also for the people and not tourists. Thank goodness there is no big box store in sight. Angel asked what I wanted or was hoping to see and he delivered. True barbacoa was for breakfast where we met and befriended a ranchero and his family. After an hr or so of browsing/shopping we left for the unbelievable Yagul. It was amazing and I was in total awe. Angel knew so much, paced us very well and didn't seemed bothered by my questions. The company also added an extra stop at my request that was arranged ahead of time during initial booking. Angel made sure we would get to it and we did! We met, chatted and ate Evangeline's famous mole (the sole reason for my trip Oaxaca). - prompt and easy communication from initial interest and booking to the actual day of the trip - it was worth my money in my opinion
